Purpose: The Director of Programs develops and oversees programs that engage, equip and connect Christian volunteers in mutually beneficial relationships with refugees. Programs are designed to empower volunteers to offer practical help, hospitality and friendship to refugees in local communities. The Director of Programs ensures that all programs are effective, efficient and of high quality. Supervises program staff and assists with program implementation.
Programs include Welcome to America!Pack, New Neighbor and New Neighbor Conversations DuPage and Cook Counties.
Duties and Responsibilities
In conjunction with the Executive Director, set the overall vision, objectives and goals for programming.
Supervise program staff (Chicago Program Manager and DuPage Program Manager), providing leadership, support and development opportunities. Oversee office volunteers who support program administration.
Develop New Neighbor Conversations, a new program with initial emphasis in DuPage County. This program matches refugees with trained volunteers who provide English language tutoring and other supportive services. Oversee development and implementation of program design, systems, standards and materials.
Ensure that established programs are best-in-class, including periodic audits of program processes and outcomes to ensure programs are relevant and reflective of best practices.
Provide hands-on delivery of program services as needed.
Develop and nurture strong partnerships with churches, resettlement agencies and community organizations.
Oversee program monitoring and evaluation, including creating and maintaining reports in DonorPerfect (data management system) per office and grantor requirements. Ensure program team is current on reporting/data entry.
Provide assistance to Exodus fundraising events and marketing efforts.
Keep informed of volunteer and refugee trends, issues and opportunities.
Represent Exodus at meetings and conferences as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to relate to diverse groups of people. Knowledge of refugee and cross-cultural issues a plus.
Outstanding interpersonal and relationship building skills.
Excellent problem solving and planning abilities. Ability to analyze and adapt processes to achieve goals.
A self-starter with strong initiative and organizational skills; must be able to prioritize, multi-task and be attentive to details.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

At least 5 years experience in program and/or volunteer management, with at least 3 years’ experience in a supervisory position.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Drive; experience working with DonorPerfect or other integrated software/database systems.
