As a key member of our fundraising team Corporate RelationsManager, works closely with the Director of Development, Executive Director and key board members on developing our corporate relations strategies. The Corporate Relations Manager is responsible for managing the department's entire corporate portfolio (excluding grants), which is inclusive of major gifts from corporations, partnerships and sponsorship of our annual 5k series and special events.
This role is also the lead for our Charity Athlete (SoleMates) program for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, Half Marathons, and Triathlons, and our 5k Runner fundraising intiatives.
Reports to: Director of Development
Status: Full time, Exempt
Duties include but are not limited to:
Support the DOD in strategic direction and oversight for all aspects of corporate partnerships, charity athlete program, and individual gifts.
Engage audiences through direct communications, PR, social media, advertising, events and messaging.
Energy, passion and ideas to enhance the culture of the entire organization.
Passionate about Girls on the Run’s mission and eager to promote and communicate the philosophy, mission and values of Girls on the Run to stakeholders.
A sense of humor and commitment to working hard for a great cause.
Corporate Relations/Sponsorship: (70%)
Actively prospect and manage ongoing new sponsorship and corporate engagement partnerships.
Create engagement, prospecting and stewardship events that bring Girls on the Run’s mission and message to new audiences.
Develop customized corporate engagement opportunities in line with the mission of Girls on the Run and the needs of our corporate partners.
Manage a portfolio of existing, new, and prospective sponsors, acting as the primary point-of-contact on all aspects of recruitment, proposal writing, signing, and retention of corporate partners.
Manage and track all partnership entitlements and stay in regular communication with partners and key departments at Girls on the Run-Chicago to ensure that all entitlements are met.
Serve as the primary point of contact for all 5k sponsor entitlements – coordinating event-day execution and equipment orders, and pre-event communications and social media promotions in conjunction with the Communications Department and Director of Development.
Collaborate with the 5k Manager on day-of-event sponsor entitlements and in-kind donation deliveries, and resource needs within the 5k that may be met through corporate relationships.
Proactively manage relationships with National Sponsors with GOTRI’s Partnership Manager.
Develop and lead corporate volunteerism opportunities.
Endurance Athlete Charity Running Team and 5k Runner Fundraising: (30%)
Oversee the growth and direction of our charity running program (SoleMates), where endurance athletes participate in events, such as the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, and fundraise for Girls on the Run.
Manage athlete recruitment, retention, and partnerships with major Chicago-area races (e.g. The Bank of America Chicago Marathon, Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago Half Marathon and Esprit de She Triathlon)
Ensure best-in-class support for our athletes from the time they sign on through the days post race, through creating a community of support online, hosting in person events, and providing regular updates to the team.
Develop and carry out a marketing strategy for the SoleMates program, including Social Media, attending running community events, expos and races in support of our team and outreach efforts.
Organize GOTRC presence at Expos and on Race Day in support of our SoleMates team, including providing for any hospitality or special venues and coordinating supply load in and out.
Set direction and execute our 5k runner fundraising program for the Girls on the Run-Chicago 5k Series.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
A minimum of 3-5 years of previous sales, sponsorship and/or corporate relations experience
Strong passion for the organization and our mission combined with the ability to sell the mission and marketing opportunities for the program and 5k series
Prior running/endurance sports experience a plus
Exceptional people skills and ability to quickly engage potential charity athletes, and partners.
Strong attention to detail with ability to organize and manage information from a variety of sources and formats
Excellent communication skills, including writing, grammar, speaking and presentation abilities
Computer competence, including but not limited to Microsoft Office and database software and Salesforce
Ability/willingness to act as substitute coach if needed
Outstanding relationship building skills and the ability to respond quickly and empathically
Ability to travel within assigned territory, using a personal vehicle
Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs
