Christopher House seeks a dynamic and detail-oriented intern interested in gaining behind-the-scenes experience in the Information Technology (IT) of a non-profit organization. The Christopher House IT Internship is an ideal opportunity to learn the ins and outs of a non-profit serving over 5,000 low-income Chicago children and families annually.
The IT intern has the opportunity to work with the supportive two-person IT team and will gain valuable experience in IT field. The Intern will also attain a broadened understanding of the organizational importance of technology to Christopher House as a whole; while gaining insight and experience with the inner workings of the organization and becoming familiar with programming and initiatives.
Assist in performing hardware and software installation procedures
Perform software configuration on stand-alone computers and laptops
Provide support in diagnosing hardware and software issues and troubleshooting activities
Lay cables and wires for networks and ensure that they are in good working order
Assist in handling data migration duties
Assist in hardware and software inventory management
Handle researching options and research computer bugs and their solutions
Other responsibilities as assigned
Familiar with PC hardware components, desktop operating system software (Microsoft Windows), and Microsoft Office
Excellent writing, communication, and research skills
Ability to work well within a team

Our working hours are 9:oo am-5pm; Mon-Fri. The internship is flexible on days and times – we are looking for a 16-32 hours/week with a minimum one-month commitment.
