Program Assistant - Full Time
Reporting to Program Supervisor, the permanent full time Program Assistant will work in the After School Program, Full Day Summer Camp and Community Arts & Resource Center at True To Life Foundation. The Program Assistant is responsible for the planning and implementation of activities, ensuring the safety of all children in the program and helping to create an enriching, organized, fun and safe environment for all participants in True to Life classes, programs, and workshops.The Program Assistant must be thoroughly committed to the True To Life Foundation Mission. All candidates must have a positive attitude and enjoy working with school-aged youth, ages 5-12 and senior citizens.
Required Work Hours: M-F, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Plan and implement daily activities according to program needs.
Communicate and enforce program rules and code of conduct.
Provide leadership to youth engaged in program activities. Maintain accurate attendance records and logs as required by program.
Assist in the preparation of weekly curriculum and schedule. Facilitate skill-based group activities with youth and seniors.
Follow TTL program procedures to safeguard health, safety, and well-being of participants.
Preparation of daily snacks and homework evaluation.
Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
Develop and maintain cooperative relationship with the families of children in our programs.
Provide a safe/healthy environment for program participants.
Report daily to Program Supervisor.
Other duties as assigned.
Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population (youth and adults) from different backgrounds.
Associates degree or equivalent and at least 21 years of age.
Possession of valid Illinois Driver’s License and clean driving record.
Ability to create and facilitate skill based groups and activities, such as art, dance, nutrition and recreation.
Ability to help create a safe and inclusive environment for youth ages 5-12 and senior citizens.
Experience in working with youth ages 5-12 in an after school program setting and/or other related experience and some experience working with adults and seniors.
Ability to demonstrate group management skills and techniques.
Ability to resolve conflict situations.
Ability to interact with both youth and adults in a professional atmosphere.
At least three years’ experience working with children in an after school program or full day youth program setting.
Experience in youth program curriculum planning.
