The Sr. Accounting Manager directs all accounting operations including the accounting, financial reporting, cash management, payroll, and accounts payable functions. The Sr. Accounting Manager would work in close partnership to the CFO to ensure that the organization has the systems and procedures in place to produce accurate and timely financial reporting, ensure compliance with applicable contract and regulatory reporting requirements, analyze financial data and clearly communicate financial results and trends to senior management, identify cost saving opportunities and recommend actions to enhance profitability.
Ensure that all accounting functions are performed in an accurate, complete and timely manner in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP)
Develop and analyze statistical and accounting information and report monthly operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, fiscal soundness and operational effectiveness
Maintain accurate accounting records for all company transactions and safeguard company assets. Maintain a strong and effective system of internal financial controls for the organization
Prepares regulatory reports for Medicaid, Medicare, grants and other programs.
Reviews monthly billing for Medicaid and other billing sources. Reconciles monthly aging reports to applicable general ledger accounts receivables.
Prepares monthly accruals for accounts payable processing.
Prepare responses to requests for financial information and statistics from outside agencies including cost reports. Ensure compliance with applicable contract and regulatory reporting requirement
Assist with the annual audit and special audits and reviews
Present financial reports and information to various audiences, including department leaders, senior management, Board of Directors and Board Committees as needed
Work closely with CFO, Directors, and department leaders in the preparation of budgets and models in accordance with organizational policy within established time frames. Assist the CEO and CFO in the budget/model presentation to the Board of Directors
Participate in setting strategic direction for the organization and advancing the execution of strategic goal
Management of the team includes responsibility for planning, coordinating, and controlling the work and procedures, and providing advice/coaching to staff
Create an environment that encourages and supports development and learning for staff through regular feedback, coaching, training, work experiences, and performance management
Communicates regularly with the CFO and CEO regarding all major issues impacting financial operations and reporting\

Experience and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
Master’s Degree preferred
Ten (10) plus years of commensurate work experience including staff leadership and oversight of the accounting function
Experience presenting to/collaborating with Boards and Board committees preferred
Experience in non-profit accounting and public accounting required; experience in a health care environment strongly preferred
Experience with accounting software packages and data manipulation required; experience with Sage preferred
Financial management skills, including analysis of operation results, financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, strong accounting knowledge, and market analysis
Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
