Our programs and services help children and families build safer, healthier and brighter futures. We are currently seeking a qualified Foster Care Licensing Specialist.
The Licensing Specialist is responsible for the recruitment and licensing of foster families in compliance with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services’ rules and regulations. The Licensing Specialist is responsible for training and supporting foster parents through a variety of activities.
Assist in the placement of foster children into appropriate, licensed homes.
Provide 24-hour back-up and on-call intake services as required.
Provide evening/weekend back-up support to foster parents on an as needed basis.
FOSTER PARENT RECRUITMENT, ORIENTATION AND LICENSING
Responsible for planning Foster Parent In-Service Training and promoting training opportunities with assigned foster parents.
Implement the foster care recruitment plan as requested by the Clinical Director.
Plan and provide foster parent orientation training.
Provide support to the parent education program.
Monitor foster parents and maintain all required licensing documentation.
Maintain agency records for children in placement and foster parents.
Attend required staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
Maintain monthly reports on recruitment and licensing.
Carry out all duties as designated by the Clinical Director.
Comply with agency policies and procedures and the Department of Children and Family Services “Code of Ethics for Child Welfare Professionals.”
COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND RELATIONS
Participate in community education.
Assist in representing the agency at community meetings.
Travel around the Chicagoland area is required of this position (in personal car with mileage reimbursed.)
MSW degree from an accredited school of social work with at least two years’ experience in foster care is desired; undergraduate degree in a human service field from an accredited school with at least two years’ experience in foster care is required.
Must meet all requirements in accordance with the Department of Children and Family Services.
Must pass Licensing Examination for Foster Care as required by the Department of Children and Family Services.
Must have a valid Illinois driver's license, an automobile and must submit proof of Illinois auto insurance.
Must become certified in CPR and First Aid within six months of employment date.
Must complete a Medical and T.B. test providing proof of test results.
Must be fingerprinted by the State of Illinois and must submit to a full Background Check through the Department of Children and Family Services.
Must submit official academic transcripts from the last school in which a degree was awarded.
Must have the Child Welfare Licensure certification from the State of Illinois.
