Live4Lali is seeking a Grant Writer to help serve its mission: Live4Lali works to prevent and raise awareness of substance use among individuals, families, and communities and minimize the overall health, legal, and social harms associated with substance use.
The Grant Writer is responsible for researching new funding opportunities, with a heavy focus on federal, state, and local grants. This role will work closely with the Executive Director and cultivate relationships with private foundations and other sources of funding. This position will be responsible to ensure all aspects of grant proposals and awards meet the requirements of budgeting, program deliverables, and compliance. This position will research and explore funding opportunities that align with the organization’s mission, goals, and strategic plan. Opportunities will be presented to the Executive Director, and once grant opportunities are selected, this position will create a development plan on behalf of the organization and ensure selected grant application deadlines are met.
Core Competencies of the position include, but are not limited to:
Demonstrate experience in obtaining and managing complex, multi-year grants
Demonstrate experience on the federal grant level
Demonstrate knowledge of the financial and budgeting process of federal, state, and local municipalities grant funds
Ensure fiscal and program compliance of grant awards
Develop and create a database network of opportunities on behalf of the organization
Ability to present to and work alongside the fundraising committee as needed
Ability to work with and collaborate with staff and team
Demonstrate solid writing and/or communications skills and show samples of work.
Prior experience with behavioral health and/or substance use disorder, evidence-based environment a plus
Strong support in the organization’s mission, and continuously represent its mission
Grant writing experience is required, 3-5 years minimum. The candidate must be able to “hit the ground running” without expecting training.
Grant software familiarity is a plus, should the organization decide to move to a platform.
Work in a small team environment; ability to work independently with minimal direction
Communications and/or writing degree and/or certification; and provide examples
A Bachelor’s Degree is required; advanced degree is preferred
