The Accountant will support the day to day activities of the Accounting office, assist in the oversight of all IT business, assist oversight of office functions. Accuracy and attention to detail is of out most important in this role. The person will work directly with BPNC’s Director of Finance and Operations and will report directly to the Director of Finance and Operations.
Review invoices for accurate coding, budget compliance and HR requirements
Track contract/grant information accurately and timely
Prepare monthly vouchers/invoices for grants/contracts
Review payroll time sheets for accuracy and budget compliance
Manage all HR related tasks for payroll
Review monthly bank reconciliations
Records all cash transactions daily and ensures receipts are collected
Manages and tracks corporate credit card usage for Directors
Maintains an accurate real time cash balance
Ensures timely submission of all contract/grant invoicing
Monthly expense allocations
Prepare and participate grant/contract audits
Assist in oversight of IT, office equipment, supplies, and repairs/maintenance of main office
Assist in day to day HR issues and requests
Assist in annual budget preparation
Assist in preparation and during annual audit
Works with Development to manage paypal account
Maintain current information on all HR lists
All other duties as assigned
Top Priorities for Accountant:
Bilingual English/Spanish if required.
Accuracy: The Accountant must ensure that all job duties are performed with 100% accuracy.
Time Management: Time management is essential to being successful as time is limited and efficient use of time is crucial to ensuring that all job duties are performed.
Communication: Communication is key. Any time the employee is unclear about a duty, deadline, etc. it is imperative that she clearly communicates it to the Director of Finance and Operations. Clear and constant communication is important in order to maintain accuracy and to meet the deadlines as stated by the Finance Department’s schedules.
Bachelor Degree in Accounting required.
Minimum 3 years of Non-profit Accounting experience, with at least 3 years of accounting functions oversight responsibilities.
Experience with accounting software packages, Quickbooks for Non-Profits preferred.
Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Experience with payroll processing systems such as ADP, Paychex, Paylocity.

BPNC organizes campaigns to address the following issues: Education Justice, Housing and Economic Justice, Community Safety, Youth Development, and Immigrant Rights. In each of these core issue areas, BPNC assists community leaders in organizing their own resources and capacity to affect substantial and meaningful change. BPNC also provides a series of social services to affect positive change in the same issue areas, and maintains Full-Service Community School (FSCS) partnerships with five local schools (Burroughs Elementary, Davis Elementary, Shields Elementary, 'Shields Middle, and Kelly High School). These partnerships have increased our ability to not only sustain and increase our impact in the community, but has also assisted us in obtaining successful outcomes for all of our initiatives and services.
