Blue Sky Bakery & Cafe is a nonprofit organization in Chicago with ten years of experience providing supportive, transitional employment to homeless and at-risk youth in a bakery/cafe setting. We are currently seeking a highly-energetic, compassionate, creative professional to support the youth in this program by facilitating soft skills development, participation in educational and enrichment activities, and pursuit of stable, long-term employment.
Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the Program Coordinator include but are not limited to:
--Establishing and maintaining external relationships with individuals and businesses to develop employment opportunities, internships and informational interviews for youth, primarily in the foodservice industry --Adapting and implementing job preparedness programming --Maintaining database/inventory of employment, training, and internship opportunities --Tracking progress toward meeting individual employment goals. --Maintaining accurate records including weekly logs, documentation of services, post-graduation data, etc. --Attending all staff meetings and planning meetings
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
--Passion for working with at-risk teens and young adults --Ability to engage in strategic program development and long-term planning --At least two years of experience working in case management, job development, job placement, and/or job training --Experience facilitating group work and discussions among young adults, particularly those who have incomplete educations, below-grade reading and/or math levels, and little or no work experience --Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal --Ability to keep accurate records and statistics
