We are seeking a seasoned Senior Grant Writer with experience in federal, state, county and city grant writing. The position will also support our grants management solicitations from new and existing family, private and corporate foundations.
Work under the leadership of the Grants Director to ensure grant activity support A Safe Haven mission, goals, and strategic planning initiatives.
Represent A Safe Haven at meetings with Program Officers and when appropriate, participate in local Continuum of Care, homelessness, housing, youth development, social enterprise, substance abuse, mental health and workforce development meetings.
Keep apprised of relevant funding trends in government, corporate and foundation giving strategies.
Prioritize projects to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner, meeting deadlines and manage supplemental material required for proposals.
Collaborate with Director of Development, Chief Operating Officer and Program Directors to collect accurate and current program information and data for use in proposals and reporting.
Assist Grants Director with development of comprehensive strategy for the growth of government, foundation and corporate grant funding.
Assist with the Procurement of funding to support ASHF Social Business Enterprises.
Maintain expertise in social and economic issues faced by special populations including: ex-offenders, homeless families, children, youth, LGBTQ individuals, and veterans.
Assemble and submit grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentations.
Assume responsibility for tracking the cultivation and stewardship processes of institutional donors and prospects.
Participate in bidder conferences with city, state, county and federal grant making agencies.
Work with the program team to maintain compliance with the objectives set forth in each awarded grant.
Maintain accurate grants awards and submissions in Donor Perfect and Central Filing System.
Support special writing requests as assigned by the Office of President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer.

Ability to use online databases and other sources to locate biographical, financial and philanthropic information.
Knowledge of nonprofit administration and social services.
Knowledge of budgeting as it relates to grants and proposals.
Multi-tasker and an ability to perform in a team environment and work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university and three to five years grant writing experience is required.
Experience with Microsoft Office programs and use of relational databases such as Donor Perfect.
