Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Enlace Chicago is hiring two Street-Based Counselors as part of the Communities Partnering 4 Peace (CP4P), a citywide collaborative of community-based agencies across Chicago working together to reduce rates of community violence. The counselors will operate as part of the Neighborhood Safety team that includes outreach workers and community engagement/safe space staff from Enlace and other partner organizations.
The Street-Based Counselor will provide clinical case management to individuals returning to the Little Village community after having had contact with the criminal or juvenile justice system, and/or individuals considered high-risk by street outreach workers. Counlselors will support participants' care by assessing treatment needs; developing, monitoring, and evaluating treatment plans and progress; and facilitating interdisciplinary approaches. They will also deliver psycho-social group interventions in the community.
Master’s in Social Work required
Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
Firsthand knowledge of living and/or working in the Little Village neighborhood preferred
Ability to manage multiple and rapidly changing priorities; establish appropriate, confidential relationships with participants, guardians, and other stakeholder; and produce reports and case notes
Coursework/trainings in crisis intervention, nonviolence, restorative practices, and/or trauma-informed practice
Experience working with reentry and high-risk populations
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience working with high-risk populations
No pending criminal cases or prior convictions for sexual assault, child abuse, or domestic violence
Valid Illinois driver’s license, insurance and good driving record
Willingness to work on the street and in other unstructured situations
Work late nights and on weekends
COMPENSATION: Compensation commensurate with experience
