The Outreach Community Counseling Center – Carol Stream, IL
The Counseling Center provides individual, couples, family, and group therapy for a full range of concerns including family conflict, depression, anxiety, trauma and loss. The center also provides evaluation and treatment for ADHD, psychological testing for emotional and learning disabilities and wellness evaluations. The Counseling Center is a training site for Masters and Doctoral level interns from various graduate schools
The Animal Assisted Therapist will collaborate with the Counseling Center’s Program Director to begin offering animal assisted therapy services to residents in the Carol Stream community. The Animal Assisted Therapist will own, house, and care for a therapy dog to actively incorporate the dog into therapy work. Animal ownership and care expenses will be paid by Outreach. The Therapist will serve as primary therapist and case manager for a full-time case load of children, adolescents and adults with mental health concerns; provide assessment, treatment planning, and therapy as well as stabilization services that may include home visits, access to psychiatric care, coordination with a network of care, linkage to area resources, and advocacy. The therapist will be responsible for timely and accurate case documentation, billing, statistical reporting and other program paperwork as needed. Participation in team meetings, clinical training and other agency activities are also required.
Full-time at 40-45 hours per week. Hours scheduled Monday- Friday with at least two evenings per week to accommodate client scheduling.

Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or related field. Clinical licensure strongly preferred. Experience in systemic interventions; sensitivity to the needs of a low-income, culturally diverse population. Previous experience in Animal Assisted Therapy a plus however training will be provided. Animal Assisted Therapy Certification required within 18 months of hire date. A valid IL driver’s license, good driving record, reliable vehicle and current auto insurance. A commitment to OCM's Statement of Mission and Faith is required.
Additional Salary Information: Salary for this position falls between $38,000 and $45,500 based on skills, licensure and experience.
