The Program Manager is responsible for the oversight, implementation, and development of Project SYNCERE’s in school and out-of-school time programming. This person develops the structure of the program based off site’s needs/interests, manages the program staff and operations, and maintains relationships with partner sites. Person reports to the Director of Programs.
Provide oversight to multiple program locations
Lead/ coordinate program & project trainings for instructional team
Determine scope of program offerings, & prepare drafts of program schedules and descriptions to determine staffing & facility needs
Develop and maintain systems for keeping accurate program records
Assure effective implementation & successful completion of programs
Prepare status and progress reports
Conduct program site observations
At least 3 years of related management experience required.
Proficient knowledge of Mac, Windows and applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required; ability to interact/communicate with clarity, tact, and courtesy with staff and stakeholders required; ability to recognize and resolve or refer problems required; strong writing skills preferred; ability to analyze and use data to create improvement plans.
Ability to take initiative and a proactive approach to tasks and projects required; ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality required; ability to work independently, with supervision, or in collaboration as a team member required; excellent interpersonal skills required; willingness to learn, ask questions and accept critique required; ability to take responsibility for decisions, actions and results required; ability to prioritize multiple tasks, projects, or goals in order to maximize productivity and effectiveness required; exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail required.
Regular in office attendance; problem-solving, reasoning, and critical thinking skills; handling multiple concurrent tasks; some periods of high stress; constant interruptions with work environment; must assimilate and incorporate newly acquired information in a timely manner; relatively sedentary position; frequent keyboarding and reading on-screen and printed text; extended time working at a computer; periodic travel to sites around Chicago required.
Bachelor's degree required; a degree in education or other disciplines with interest in education preferred; experience working in education or youth development field preferred; previous administrative and management experience required.
Project SYNCERE is a nonprofit organization, which started its first programming in 2009. The mission is to prepare the minds and create pathways for underrepresented and disadvantaged students to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
