The Cancer Wellness Center is seeking an energetic and experienced Director of Development. The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial, analytical and results-focused self-starter who can drive development strategy, including community outreach and cultivation activities to secure new sources of funding.
Scope of Role: Reporting to the Executive Director, this is an opportunity to join a non-profit that has been a part of the Chicago community for 28 years. The organization has excellent long-standing donor relationships, but is looking to cultivate new donors by building knowledge and awareness about the organization among the philanthropic community. The Director of Development has the exciting opportunity to create an individual giving strategy that will champion the Center’s services and accomplishments and ensure the Center continues to meet the demands of the future.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Conceive strategy for attracting funding from individuals, corporations and foundations, and execute strategy.
Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors to increase consistent support.
Cultivate relationships with new donors.
Assist Executive Director with Board member prospecting.
Plan, manage, and implement various outreach and fundraising initiatives, programs and events.
Work with contracted events planner to manage four major events throughout the year, including a run/walk, ladies lunch, golf outing and the annual benefit.
Develop and execute strategy to expand donor base through events, year-end appeals and other means.
Assist Executive Director to manage the newly launched the Leadership Circle to increase the organization’s leadership, outreach and awareness.
Develop communications and materials to engage donors throughout the year.
Use social media for development and marketing.
Work with Donor Database Analyst to track donor activity.
Ability to oversee and coordinate a variety of projects and events.
