The Chicago Center for Arts and Technology (CHICAT) provides arts education for youth and industry relevant career training for adults and creates real avenues out of poverty and promotes hope amongst those who need it most.

The Bridge Instructor position at CHICAT will lead bridge instruction for the Manufacturing Bridge Program and teach digital skills to adult students and CHICAT staff.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Adult Education or related field.
Experience working with a diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, disability and ethnic background of students.
Prior experience in manufacturing sector a plus.
5 years experience in teaching 6 - 12th grade level math.
Expert level knowledge of Office 365 and Sharepoint
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manufacturing Bridge Program:
Assess the learning styles of adult learners.
Provide daily classroom instruction for manufacturing bridge trainees.
Develop math and manufacturing curriculum for the bridge program; collaborate with Media Resource/Bridge instructor on math and reading strategies for both bridge programs.
Work with instructors and teaching assistants to support students’ academic progress.
Participate in admissions panels and student recruitment as necessary.
Document and track attendance and performance issues.
Reviews, evaluates, analyzes and makes recommendations for service improvements and implementation.
Creates or participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
Plans and prepares development of curriculum to improve student performance in reading and math
Works with healthcare and manufacturing instructors in providing math support to all students.
Prepares, administers and corrects evaluations and assessments, and record results.
Selects and uses appropriate instructional strategies including, but not limited to, contextual learning, group discussions, demonstrations, modeling and multi-media teaching aids to present subject matter to students.
Evaluates student progress using appropriate assessment techniques.
Create an environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process and enables each student to achieve learning objectives.
Maintain accurate attendance and scholastic records of students.
Use teaching methods designed for a variety of learning styles.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Digital Skills Training:
Teach Microsoft Office 365 skills to adult learners in the Health Information, Maintenance Mechanic and Quality Control programs
Collaborate with the healthcare, manufacturing and healthcare bridge instructors to fit training into the academic calendar
Teach Microsoft Office 365 skills to all CHICAT staff
Identify and develop training resources for students and staff
Crosstrain on other software utilized in healthcare and manufacturing programs to offer level one support to students
Staff the Media Resource Room

Knowledge and experience with the history, assets and challenges associated with North Lawndale, Pilsen and Little Village.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret graphs. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interests, commissions, proportions and percentages.
Ability to read and comprehend simple to moderately complex instructions, general business correspondence and memos. Possesses excellent interpersonal skills, including a professional and courteous telephone manner. Welcomes input regarding work-related activities. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisors and other employers.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to effectively carry out written or oral instructions in an expedient manner. Capable of recognizing critical events or needs and adjusting deadlines accordingly.
