The Community Music Division (CMD), part of DePaul University’s School of Music, is seeking a part-time Performance Coordinator who is energetic, self-motivated, has the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, and enjoys being part of an arts organization. Overall duties include 1) handling the performance needs for all CMD concerts and events 2) managing schedules for all Suzuki classes and Certificate program juries 3) coordinating room usage for individual and group instruction. The position reports to the Director. The ideal candidate will become a committed member of the office staff, contributing to the mission of DePaul University and the Community Music Division.
Responsibilities & Duties
Manage all end-of-quarter CMD concerts and recitals, approximately 60 per year - prepare and organize sign-up sheets; prepare, type, and duplicate programs; coordinate rehearsals with accompanists
Coordinate performance needs and prepare programs for CMD events including the following: Annual citywide Concerto Festival for Young Performers (junior and senior divisions), annual all-school fundraiser - Performathon (raising dollars for the CMD's financial aid program), Graduating Seniors Recital, Sheffield Garden Walk, Merit scholarship auditions, Certificate juries, Workshops, Piano and Violin Chamber Fests, Piano New Music Fest, and the Children's Opera Chorus as part of the DePaul Opera Theater.
Schedule all room usage for studio teaching, group classes, and performances
Coordinate all Suzuki group class schedules; organize meeting times in conjunction with faculty instructors; prepare, send, and maintain updated schedules for families
Manage and maintain upkeep of CMD libraries including Piano Sight Reading, Concerto Festival, New Horizons Ensembles, DePaul Community Chorus, and Prelude Choir as well as all Certificate Program student files
Performs other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in music
2-3 years experience in an office or school setting
