Position: Development Associate - Grant Writer & Research
Status: Average 25 hours per week. Hourly or independent contractor
Location: Holy Family Business Office, Northbrook, IL
Reports to: Development Director
The Grant Writer is responsible for preparing and submitting grant applications primarily to foundations, and corporations, and assisting with government grant applications. This is an on-site position at our office in Northbrook, IL. For independent contractors, a minimum of 50% of time must be spent in this office.
Write and submit applications tailored to funders’ specific requirements
Assist with the preparation of government grant proposals
Research new potential funding sources
Maintain a grant calendar
Research regarding up to date statistics and information for case statements
Monitor and maintain compliance with grants awarded, and prepare reports to funders
Write tailored acknowledgement letters
Assist other members of the development department as needed
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
MINIMUM of 2 years of experience in a social services organization which includes significant grant proposal writing.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written skills
Detail-oriented and organized
Able to exercise independent judgment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously
Ability to understand budgets as they relate to proposals and grants
Experience with online grant application processes
Available to work occasional Saturday (3 -4 times per year)
Available to work additional hours during high-volume grant periods
Has a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle on a daily basis

Additional Salary Information: Please include hourly rate charged, based on an average of 25 hours per week, with your response. Note that contract workers must work on site at Northbrook office at least 50% of the time.
