Complies with food safety and sanitation guidelines according to local, state and federal guidelines for childcare centers.
Receives the food from the caterer on a daily basis and ensures quality and correct quantity of food products
Measures the temperature of the food upon receipt and at prescribed intervals throughout the day and documents findings
Ensures meals are served/delivered to classrooms at correct time and at the correct temperature for consumption.
Ensures the safety of children with food allergies by ensuring children are not served or exposed to foods that could cause an allergic reaction
Ensures kitchen supplies are maintained at proper quantities and notifies Site Director when supplies are needed; in addition ensures the food equipment and the kitchen are maintained in working order and in sanitary condition.
Completes all required documentation in accordance with agency/programmatic policies and procedures, professional standards, and external requirements of all relevant regulatory, licensing, funding or accrediting bodies.
Must be able to communicate effectively with coworkers and clients and demonstrate the ability to read printed materials required for the position.
Participate in on-going recruitment activities designed to increase enrollment in the program.
Required to assist in classroom as needed.
Preferred Requirements: High School with some college courses in Nutrition or related field or Early Childhood Education. 2 years experience in food service in child care facility. Food Safety Sanitation Certificate.
Minimum requirements: GED. Prior Work experience. Obtain Food Safety Sanitation Certificate within three months of hire
Additional Requirements: Must be able to climb stairs carrying 15 lbs.
