The Director of Campaigns and Special Gifts is responsible for directing Latin’s major gifts program and managing a personal portfolio of current and prospective leadership donors.
Latin School of Chicago’s Development and Alumni Relations Team plays a vital role in contributing to the education and development of Latin students and maintaining Latin’s place as an outstanding school. Through community outreach, relationship building and general awareness activities, the department motivates participate in and support of the school, helping Latin carry out its educational objectives.
Provide leadership to the overall planning and execution of capital campaigns, special gifts, and other major gift fundraising efforts;
Manage a personal portfolio of 125-150 prospects; with personal targets of 225+ actions and 80+ personal meetings per year;
Ensure personalized and timely stewardship of assigned prospects;
Share volunteer management for the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gift prospects and donors;
Work closely with administration, faculty, and volunteer partners to develop prospect strategies, cultivate relationships, carry out solicitations, and stewardship to foster sustaining relationships with the Latin School;
Help to mentor staff in major and leadership gift efforts;
Assist in closing and documentation of major gifts;
Assist with production of fund raising and public relations materials as needed;
Achieve annual goals of 12-15 major gift proposal submitted, 10-12 major gifts closed, and the addition of 5 households added to Latin’s planned giving society.
Follow and ensure ethical compliance to all gift-related policies and procedures;
Enthusiastically accept other duties as assigned.

Minimum of five years of successful major gift fundraising experience, experience with independent schools is an advantage;
Proven ability to design, implement and execute fundraising plans and donor strategies;
Strong communication skills to persuasively convey the institutional priorities to a diverse audience;
Experience working with active, involved volunteer leadership;
Demonstrated initiative and energy; creativity, an entrepreneurial spirit and flexibility;
Comfort with the application of new technologies to fundraising and development programs;
Willingness to travel domestically at least 30%;
A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is a plus, as is record of continuing professional development.
