The Accounting Assistant position will support the Director of Finance in performing general bookkeeping and accounts receivable and payable activities. The position may be also be involved in general office management activities as needed. Primary duties include: • Prepare tuition invoices for student accounts; • Manage tuition A/R payment plans; • Process credit cards orders; • Communicate with clients about their accounts; • Record cash and A/R receipts in accounting system; • Update accounting system client database; • Handle cash and checks received and prepare bank deposits; • Enter A/P credit card expenses in accounting system: • Other assigned activities related to not-for-profit administration.
The position is a part-time regular position that is budgeted for 10-12 hours per week.
The Accounting Assistant should have the following education and skills:
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in accounting, or currently seeking a Bachelor’s degree through an accredited college or university; • Related employment or intern experience is a plus; • Strong attention to detail; • Organization skills; • Analytic and problem solving skills; • Effective oral and written communication, including phone skills; • Experience with Windows Office applications and other business software; • Ability to work at a computer for an extended length of time.
