The Respiratory Health Association (RHA) has been a leader in public health since 1906, with the mission to prevent lung disease, promote clean air, and help people live better through education, research and policy change. Its award-winning programs have led to improvements in lung health and life quality for thousands of adults and children throughout Chicago and the country.
RHA seeks interns to work a minimum of 12 hours per week to work in all areas of our organization, including programs, marketing and special events. This is a non-paid internship, but we are happy to support requirements to receive course credit.
Work on clean air initiatives, including clean fuel and transportation
Assist team that advocates for raising minimum age of tobacco purchases to 21
Help prepare for premier COPD conference
Assist programs related to reducing tobacco use and preventing asthma in underserved areas around Chicago and Illinois
Research on RHA’s health priorities
Assist with social media and development of media-related promotional material
Develop content for RHA’s websites and e-newsletter
Assist with development of press releases and media alerts
Update departmental files and media clippings
Assist with RHA’s signature special events, including Hustle Up the Hancock, CowaLUNGa Bike Tour, and CHILL (wine & culinary event)
Help with event registrations, budget & gift processing, post-event incentive prizes, awards, preparation/packing and onsite logistics as needed
Work with special event participants to establish and meet fundraising goals and identify/cultivate participants for human interest stories
The ideal candidate will be well-organized and possess excellent writing and communication skills. Graduate students are encouraged to apply.
