North Lawndale College Prep (NLCP) is a coed, public charter high school with two campuses that serve ~ 750 students in grades 9-12. NLCP exists to create a better future by developing and empowering transformational leaders. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Officer is responsible for planning, managing and implementing fundraising and development activities. The primary objectives of the position are meeting NLCP’s annual fundraising needs of $2.0 million and developing strategies for increasing revenue from current and prospective donors. She/he will provide strategic input and support for the creation of NLCP’s year-end appeal and other direct mail initiatives. The Development Officer collaborates with colleagues to produce fundraising events and student-centered events that rely on a large number of volunteers. He/she will work collaboratively and strategically with NLCP leaders and stakeholders to achieve fundraising goals.

Annual Giving Strategy
Lead the development of year-end and spring direct-mail appeals that raise a combined $175,000 annually. Manage timelines, recommend themes, write copy and oversee production and delivery.
Leverage use of social media and e-newsletters to create opportunities for online giving
Create fundraising and marketing materials that drive support for unrestricted gifts.
Work with NLCP alumni to identify opportunities for alumni to give back both financially and though in-kind support.
Responsible for supporting NLCP’s Associate Board to successfully execute annual fundraising events that raise over $200,000, including Pass It On! and Trivia Night.
Develops the strategy for and drives the implementation of a successful plan to engage corporations to sponsor NLCP events and mentor NLCP students.
Actively support the planning and execution of other signature NLCP events, such as Phoenix Colloquium and Senior Project Panels.
Responsible for updating external facing pages of the NLCP website. Create content that is compelling to current and prospective donors, volunteers and sponsors.
Recommend and implement strategies for leveraging NLCP’s use of social media across multiple platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
Design, write stories for and deploy a monthly e-newsletter sent to 2,000+ NLCP donors, alumni and volunteers using MailChimp.
Acts as the primary liaison to the NLCP Associate Board.
Ensures that NLCP Associate Board (AB) meets and exceeds annual goals for fundraising, SOAR student mentoring, Lunch and Learn, and new AB member recruitment.
Supports the recruitment, training and matching of 150 Senior Project Mentors to 150 NLCP seniors.
Provides guidance and support to help NLCP’s Public Ally and other interns to successfully implement and manage volunteer programs.
Gift Processing and Database Management
Responsible for managing and ensuring the integrity of NLCP’s E-Tapestry donor database.
Processes ALL gifts and sends acknowledgement letters in a timely manner.
Designs and runs gift summary reports.
Conducts research to identify prospective corporate, foundation and major gift donors.
The ideal candidate will:
Have a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of three years of successful development experience in multiple aspects of fundraising, including direct mail and online giving, special events, volunteer management, grant writing, major gifts, capital campaigns, and public relations.
Be a strategic thinker who is a driven fundraising professional with the ability to communicate excitement about NLCP, its mission, and its successes.
Passion for NLCP’s mission, coupled with a strong commitment to know and understand NLCP’s history, mission and structure, as well as its services, policies and procedures.
Strong attention to detail and the abilities to manage multiple projects, establish workload priorities, & meet deadlines are critical.
Be able to work across a range of functions, from administrative tasks to front-facing cultivation, with a commitment to excellence in all areas.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with strong emphasis on compelling writing.
Be able to work effectively with a range of personalities, including teachers, students, parents, donors and volunteers.
A proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and with donor CRM database software; working knowledge of eTapestry a plus.
Knowledge of website content management systems & social media.
Valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record required.
