We are now hiring for a full-time Intake Worker 3 to join our Midway Team!
Essential Job Functions:
Understands office or program's intake procedures, eligibility guidelines, case acceptance policies, case assignment procedures, and case and client recordkeeping procedures; implements them for individual inquires and applications for service.
Interviews individuals who contact the office or program by telephone or in person regarding their need for services; gathers information needed to process the applications, and makes a preliminary determination of eligibility and nature of need, interpreting and applying established policies and instructions.
Recognizes typical legal and/or social problems presented by low?income clients and makes referrals to the appropriate case handler, or other agency department or outside agency.
Communicates information and advice to clients under the direct supervision of a qualified professional, and documents same in writing.
Distributes appropriate client self?help and educational materials.
Determines whether an emergency situation exists and, if so, makes immediate referrals to other appropriate resources or expedited appointments with department's or office's professional staff. Informs clients of specific steps to be taken on their own with courts, agencies, or other entities.
Maintains appointment schedules, files intake and other case records, and organizes appointment schedules for professional staff.
Responds to general telephone inquiries, receives and directs in?person visitors, and performs other reception duties.
Collects and records fees or other cash receipts, and delivers receipts or disbursements under established procedures.
May perform translation services in the office or in court.
Assists professional staff in training and supervision of junior intake workers.
Assists professional staff in development and implementation of intake procedures.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with four years office experience including reception and clerical assignments
At least two years as intake worker in assigned department or office, or in directly comparable prior employment.
Bilingual English/Spanish required
Demonstrated courtesy, patience, and good judgment under pressure.
Demonstrated understanding of services, policies, and procedures pertinent to assignment.
Demonstrated understanding of income support eligibility, services, policies, and procedures pertinent to assignment. Ability to perform data and word processing functions.
Ability to assist professional staff in training and supervision of junior intake workers, and in development and implementation of intake procedures.
