The American Medical Association (AMA), the nation’s largest professional Association of physicians, has a dynamic opportunity for the right individual. As part of the AMA’s Professional Satisfaction & Practice Sustainability, the Senior Practice Transformation Advisor will provide subject matter expertise to the ongoing strategy of the AMA’s practice transformation efforts. The individual will be responsible to research, produce and provide educational programming and consulting support on evidence/experience-based practice transformation to health care systems, physician practices and practice managers, and other members of the health care team. This is a grant-funded (contract) position.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
Serve as advisor and consultant for change management and quality improvement for health care systems, physician practices, practice managers and other members of health care team
Provide subject matter expertise on practice transformation strategy/content for the development and distribution of change management and quality improvement resources, tools, presentations, learning collaborative and other educational methodologies
Collaborate with other areas of Professional Satisfaction and Practice Sustainability, and with internal AMA units such as Medical Education and Physician Engagement, to develop and implement practice transformation strategies, tools and educational courses for AMA members, prospects and partnerships
Identify trends and hot topics in the field: determining the most appropriate and innovative ways to provide solutions, managing the practice transformation portfolio of resources, and maintaining/furthering the integrity of the practice science around impactful transformation methods.
Develop, present and implement education and training sessions on practice transformation issues, current topics, products and services offered by the AMA either upon request or that support the Practice Transformation strategy.
Serve as an internal subject matter expert, sharing knowledge with other staff through various venues, including formal presentations.
Serve as an external advisor, building a network of collaborative relationships among colleagues responsible for practice transformation.
Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) in healthcare administration, business, or related field
5+ years’ experience in group practice or health care system with demonstrated progressive responsibility. Experience and success in leading transformation efforts such as EHR optimization, team-based care implementation, workflow redesign.
Proven ability to deliver effective presentations, strong project management expertise, and experience as a subject matter expert in the healthcare field
Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to convey complex ideas in presentations
Must have the ability to handle multiple projects, meet demanding deadlines, & achieve performance goals
Must be able to identify problems, research alternatives, and implement solutions
Be expert and / or have experience in health care improvement or practice transformation:
Understanding of six sigma, PDSA, process based methodologies
Experience with and understanding of “in the field” satisfaction issues for practice staff and physicians
Experience managing a small health care related business
Understanding of clinical issues in office based practice
Understanding of regulatory issues in office based practice
Understanding of payment and reimbursement issues in office based practice
Develop understanding of AMA support systems, products, services, and experts in practice management related areas.
Serve as internal expert and coordinator and contact of external experts in practice management related areas.
Moderate travel required
