The Manager, Corporate Relations is responsible for cultivation and stewardship of relationships with corporate partners, with the primary focus of increasing revenue and donor retention through relationship fundraising and stewardship. The Manager will focus on personal contact with corporate partners and prospective partners, conducting extensive e-mail, phone, and in-person communication to deepen engagement and increase support. A large percentage of the Manager’s time will be spent interacting with current corporate partners and assisting with prospecting. In addition, the Manager will also be responsible for data entry, donor CRM database support, event support, and other development tasks as assigned.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Donor Cultivation, Solicitation, and Stewardship
Participate in planning, strategy setting, and reporting on annual projections for corporate partnerships
Manage a portfolio of existing corporate relationships
Prepare high-quality proposals for corporate partners
Schedule and lead phone and in-person meetings with current partners to grow commitment to organization, increase giving levels, and provide ongoing touch points
Secure gifts according to annual fundraising goals
Steward partners through entire continuum of experience with Chicago Cares, including efforts to ensure all articulated social responsibility, philanthropy, and volunteerism goals are met through Chicago Cares’ initiatives and customized projects
Work closely with program staff to coordinate project planning efforts and ensure donor needs are met
Secure in-kind gifts according to organizational need
Manage a high volume of in-bound calls and emails on inquiries regarding partnership opportunities
Conduct prospect research as assigned
Manage donor data by entering and tracking information on corporate partners and gifts, generating invoices and gift acknowledgment letters, and developing the ability to build and generate reports within the donor CRM database
External Affairs Support
Support the CEO in managing her corporate accounts
Provide support for large projects and special events, including event planning and implementation assistance
Advance brand identity by reinforcing strategic messages and company values
Participate in and provide support to all fundraising and stewardship activities
Other duties as assigned including some administrative tasks
Bachelor’s Degree or related experience
2 to 4 years of experience in donor relations or sales with a proven track record for donor cultivation and solicitation, sales, sponsorship, marketing, and/or fundraising
Outstanding relationship building and networking skills, including professional demeanor in person, on the phone, and online
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with ability to make effective presentations to small groups
Excellent project management skills, including the ability to take initiative, work independently, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects at once
Proven ability to produce high-quality results in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment
Some database management experience preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required
Ability to maintain composure and enthusiasm when working with a variety of personalities
A flexible schedule, including the ability to work occasional evenings and weekends and take on other functions/duties as assigned
Be able to adjust to various physical and environmental conditions as the position may require including computer work, sitting or standing for long periods of time, etc.
