Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago seeks a Grants Manager to join a dynamic team of development professionals headed by the Director of Foundation and Corporate Relations. The Grants Manager will play a key role in increasing the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of the foundation and corporate community to support the Agency’s various programs and operations. A candidate must demonstrate superior writing skills and possess a keen interest in human services. Experience with the Raiser’s Edge fundraising database and grant writing is strongly preferred.
The Grants Manager is a vital position in Catholic Charities’ Development Office. Reporting to the Director of Foundation and Corporate Relations, the Grants Manager will play a key role in increasing the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of the foundation and corporate community to support the Agency’s various programs and operations. Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago is the largest Catholic Charities of any diocese in the United States, and is the largest social service agency in the Midwest. The Agency is celebrating its 100th anniversary between April 2017 and April 2018.
Writes and edits grant proposals, reports, and correspondence to donors and prospects
Assists in the development of fundraising plans for specific agency programs
Manages tracking system for timely submission of proposals and reports
Convenes meetings with appropriate program staff and divisional controllers to facilitate proposal submission; researches funding prospects
Leads research efforts to identify lapsed and new donors/prospects
Works with Catholic Charities board members and committee members to secure financial support
Schedule funder site visits
Assists with other fundraising efforts when necessary
Assists with various agency communications and public relations efforts when appropriate
Stay up to date on relevant research and news on Foundation and Corporate philanthropy
Education: Bachelor’s degree required
Job Experience: At least 2-3 years of grant writing/fundraising experience preferred
Must demonstrate superior writing and oral presentation skills
Must possess strong interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, rapidly expanding, deadline-driven, and needs driven program
Strong research and fact finding skills
Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends
Effective team player
Must be very detail orientated, have creative writing abilities, flexible, and be able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines at any time
Must be able to manage short-term and long term plans and goals.
High proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office products (especially Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) required.
Experience with Raiser’s Edge fundraising database is strongly preferred.
