Produce communications materials that engage hearts and minds for refugee ministry. The Communications Manager creates and manages communications plans, develops compelling content and effectively utilizes a variety of communications channels, including e-mail marketing, web, social media, print and video.
Duties and Responsibilities
Establish and implement communications strategy, plans, schedules and evaluation metrics. Maintain brand identity and editorial standards for the organization.
Develop messaging and write copy that engages stakeholders in refugee ministry. Facilitate interviews of refugees and volunteers as part of story development.
Source content, write copy and design ConstantContact e-newsletters and e-blasts.
Generate and update content for website and manage changes to website design.
Write copy and oversee design of event materials, including save-the-dates, invitations, signage, program books, etc.
Oversee strategy and content of social media, including Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.
Write content and oversee design of print materials, including marketing flyers, brochures and program materials.
Schedule and manage photo and video shoots. Oversee video concept and production in coordination with videographer.
Assist executive director in developing and producing donor-related materials, including direct mail letters, appeals, appreciation letters, presentations, etc.
Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors and creative professionals, including printers, graphic designers, artists, photographers and videographers.
Manage media relations. Write and distribute press releases as needed.
Oversee communications administrative functions, including maintaining graphics library, assisting with list management and oversight of direct mailings.
Keep informed of refugee and volunteer issues, trends and opportunities.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Commitment to Exodus World Service’s Christian mission and values.
Experience with a variety of communications channels, including e-mail marketing, web, print and social media.
Strong demonstrated writing and editing skills. Knowledge of AP style.
Energized by engaging with creative professionals, including writers, graphic designers, photographers and videographers.
Demonstrated ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
High level of organization, attention to detail and time management skills. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Experience relating to diverse groups of people. Knowledge of refugee and cross-cultural issues a plus.
Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
Experience with CRM database and/or HTML a plus.
Hours 30 hours/week with room to grow. Work generally to be conducted during business hours, 9am – 5pm, Monday – Friday.
Founded in 1988, our mission is to mobilize the Christian community to welcome refugees. We do this by educating churches about refugee ministry, connecting volunteers with newly arriving refugees through practical service projects, and equipping leaders to advocate on behalf of refugees.
