The Rebuilding Exchange (RX) is a nonprofit social enterprise founded in 2008. Our mission is to create a market for reclaimed building materials. We do this by diverting materials from landfills and making them accessible to the public for reuse, promoting sustainable deconstruction practices, providing education and job training programs, and creating innovative models for sustainable reuse.
Rebuilding Exchange has three distinct social enterprise lines: (1) 25,000 square foot retail warehouse that acquires reclaimed building materials to be processed and sold to the public; (2) custom design and build service under the RX Made® label for residential, retail, and commercial furniture and interiors constructed from reclaimed and locally sourced materials; and (3) workshops and educational programs for the general public. The Development Coordinator will play a critical role in raising awareness and funds for Rebuilding Exchange’s programming. They are responsible for creating and publishing content for RX’s outreach, including social media, newsletters, website updates, and other communications materials. This position will support the Executive Director with donor cultivation, grant research, and grant writing support. Additionally, the Development Coordinator oversees RX’s events and works directly with our awesome auxiliary board. This position reports to the Executive Director and is part of the management team. The ideal candidate will have some experience working in nonprofit development and be eager to grow their experience in fundraising and communications.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Work with the management team to develop communications/marketing plan
Ensure website and social media is up-to-date and lead content creation and management for all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn)
Compile content for regular e-newsletters
Consistently communicate with and acknowledge our biggest donors- our volunteers who give their time to us regularly
Work with Executive Director to create and execute fundraising strategies
Research and identify grant opportunities and create an ongoing grants calendar
Support Executive Director in creation of grant proposal boilerplate materials and drafting funder-specific proposals
Set fundraising targets and track success towards those goals
Use Salesforce to track donations and acknowledgements
Set goals and monitor digital reach
Assist in tracking organizational impact metrics
Monitor and analyze website and social media analytics (including Google Analytics, Google AdWords, etc.)
Ensure the accurate and timely reporting of relevant metrics on a monthly basis
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to thrive in RX’s scrappy work environment while maintaining a sense of humor and positive attitude
1-3 years working in nonprofit development
Solid understanding of a diversified funding strategy including donor prospecting and cultivation (individual and corporate) and grant research and application cycles
Ability to establish clear objectives, monitor progress, and achieve fundraising goals with a strong adherence to deadlines
Ability to collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders including internal staff and job trainees, board members, donors, and volunteers
Enthusiastically take initiative, with a strong ability to effectively manage time and prioritize projects
Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including a demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively and to make effective public presentations

Primary work setting is a warehouse office, with fluctuating temperatures and dust (and sometimes mice). Must have ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
