The Director of Institutional Giving will be responsible for maintaining the current strategic direction and portfolio of private foundation funding. Further, s/he will explore new opportunities resulting from the expansion of Depaul USA programming including additional national private foundation and corporate foundation funding.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Institutional Giving Responsibilities
Create a plan for 2018 which includes specific goals, objectives, strategies, budget, timeline and projected revenue for maintaining and building the institutional giving effort.
Create the institutional giving budget to be incorporated into the Senior Director of Development’s overall development budget. Manage and report regularly to the Senior Director on budgetary matters.
Manage the existing portfolio of foundations, as well as new foundation funders, cultivating the relationships with them by familiarizing with their guidelines and other requirements, meet with them when possible, and use current foundation funding software, Granthub, to help manage the process.
Write compelling grant applications requesting funding for programs that meet foundation guidelines.
Acknowledge grants promptly and appropriately.
Steward the relationships with these institutional donors by learning about and fulfilling all reporting requirements.
Research foundation communities in all Depaul USA cities to identify those that may be interested in Depaul USA’s mission nationally and locally.
Travel to the cities where Depaul USA has programs to become familiar with staff and the programs and to access information necessary for grant applications.
Report regularly to the Senior Director of Development on progress toward achieving the goals of the plan for institutional funding.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
A minimum of three-to-five years of experience in developing foundation funding.
Demonstrated history of success in relationship management with foundations and in securing foundation funding.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills. Presentation ability should be compelling and persuasive.
Ability to handle multiple projects and effectively manage and set priorities.
Goal oriented, comfortable in initiating programs, creating and cultivating relationships with private and corporate foundation representatives, and working with board members.
Strong interpersonal skills, organization skills, and the ability to work in a team and at all levels of the organization.
