The Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans, Inc. provides both transitional and affordable housing to homeless veterans. Our residential services are accompanied by very intensive supportive services, including counseling, case management, employment search and coaching, life skills training and more.
2nd shift Part-Time House Manager
Saturday and Sunday 4:00 pm – 12:00 am
The PT House Manager:
- Is responsible for (a) Client and facility safety and operations (b) Implementation of daily routine, (c) Management of client treatment planning, and (d) Responding to the 24-hour crisis line including the use of crisis intervention, assessment, and referral skills.
- Must be able to accurately enter client data and service information into an established Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).
This includes a key component of delivering supportive services to 5 homeless veterans living in a structured, transitional housing program.
The right candidate must be able to implement daily programming related to: securing employment, maintaining sobriety, increasing life skills, and securing permanent housing.
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Social Work or related Human Services field, and a minimum of one year direct service in crisis intervention or counseling required. All degrees must come from a regionally accredited educational institution which has U.S. Department of Education approval.
Previous experience in working with homeless individuals and families, particularly chronic a plus.
Veteran status a plus
Must be skilled in human relations possessing tact, understanding, and open-mindedness and be able to motivate others, instill confidence and inspire commitment to the goals of the agency.
Prefer experience working with substance abuse and PTSD populations.
Excellent assessment and decision making skills
Competent in Microsoft Office applications
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
Knowledge of General Safety standards.
Must have a valid Illinois Drivers’ License; frequent travel off-site transporting clients is expected
16 hours per week, plus potential for shift coverage leading to additional hours.
