The Finance Associate’s basic function is to support the daily operation of LCN’s Finance Department, including: accounts payable; cash receipts; monthly close processing; general ledger management; account reconciliation; payroll reconciliation; preparation for the annual audit; file management; and special projects. Other duties may be assigned to support the overall operation of the Finance Department and to facilitate segregation of duties and internal control.
This is a full-time position with hours Monday to Friday, between 9 am to 6 pm, with occasional evening or weekend hours.
Expected Goals and Objectives
Goal One: To maintain accurate records of cash receipts & accounts receivable
Records all accounts receivable and cash receipts on a weekly basis
Provides semi-monthly A/R aging reports to Director of Finance
Goal Two: To manage the general ledger and the accurate and timely monthly closing process
Reconciles all bank accounts monthly
Processes all recurring and non-standard journal entries, and any other month end close out entries
Prepare monthly allocations, including management and general
Goal Three: To process and manage all payments and vendors accurately and timely
Process all agency checks weekly or semi-weekly based on LCN’s internal schedule
Review all invoices & requests for accuracy of information and proper support.
Provide weekly A/P aging and cash requirements reports to Director of Finance
Allocate the agency credit card expenses on a bi-monthly basis.
Maintains all vendor files and other related documents
Goal Four: To support annual processes of the Finance Department, including audits and budgeting
Supports LCN’s annual independent A-133 audit
Support and manage fiscal audit/s
Supports LCN’s annual budgeting process
Goal Five: To support the overall functioning of the Finance Department
Utilizes LCN Fiscal Policies & Procedures to assure proper internal controls are maintained
Maintains all finance and grant related documents in collaboration with other Finance Staff
Organizes and maintains files so that needed documents are easy to locate
Other tasks as requested to support the overall functioning of the Finance Department
In addition to the responsibilities listed above, all La Casa Norte employees are responsible for contributing to the overall success of La Casa Norte by:
Attending monthly staff meetings and other staff trainings.
Participating in La Casa Norte’s fundraising events.
Providing receptionist & greeter duties as needed
Working in team approach to develop new programs and/or protocol
Assisting with data collection and completion of program reports.
Perform other duties as required.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or 90 hours of college credit toward an Accounting degree
Fund Accounting/non-profit accounting desired
Excellent Excel skills (Excel test required)
Excellent organizational skills, time-management and detail oriented
Energetic self-starter with ability to work independently and in team settings
Excellent oral, interpersonal, written, communication and project management skills
Strong attention to detail, with analytical and problem solving skills
Strong ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks concurrently
Manage time effectively and work within stringent deadlines
Position at times requires additional hours
Exercise good judgment in safeguarding confidential or sensitive information
