Ravinia Festival is seeking a Development Intern to provide a wide range of database, research, administrative, and general support to Ravinia’s development team. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience and familiarity with areas such as event planning, fundraising, philanthropy, donor interaction, and day-to-day operations of a nonprofit arts organization. The Development Intern will report to Ravinia’s operations team.
This position will be full-time from January 8, 2018 through May 25, 2018 with the possibility of continuing on full-time through the summer.
Work closely with the Manager of the Ravinia Associates Board to assist with preparations for the Associates’ annual Music Matters Benefit including (but not limited to):
Track and process in-kind donations to the Music Matters auction
Process payment for ticket sales and donations
Track event reservations and update donor database with current guest information/preferences
Assist with the creation of PowerPoint presentations
Assist with the preparation and mailing of gift acknowledgements
Provide support with tracking and moving of alcohol inventory, which will require the ability to lift 20-30 lbs.
At Music Matters Benefit, provide support with staff coordination, vendor communication and execution of the overall event.
Work closely with the Donor Records Coordinator to:
Charge credit card gifts
Create new and/or update existing contributor records within donor database
Prepare and assemble acknowledgement letters and tax receipts
Scan/file gift correspondences and acknowledgment letters for contributor e-files
Provide support to the Donor Development hotline by responding to phone inquiries and requests
Assist with the contributor ticket process by assembling ticket request packets, sending packets via FedEx, and tracking contributor dining reservations in the reservation database
Provide administrative support for the Development department as needed
Provide front desk back-up support when necessary

Work effectively in a fast-paced and intense customer-focused environment that frequently requires employees at all levels to work evenings and weekends, especially during the summer Ravinia season.
Required to work some evenings and weekends throughout the summer concert season and as needed during the remainder of the year to represent the Festival at functions and to prospect and cultivate donor relationships.
