Event Management, Operations/Project Management, Program Management
4 Year Degree
The Illinois Technology Association (ITA) just celebrated its twelfth year and we are looking to grow our team. We are seeking a Program & Events Manager. The team, the programs and the culture are pretty awesome – you should be too!
In 2017, we hosted or partnered to produce almost 100 events, ranging from large, 500 person galas to smaller, 10 person dinners to training workshops for 50 employees. At ITA, we don’t like to sit still. In this role, you’ll have lots of opportunity to experiment with new formats, venues and tactics to help drive the success of our programs.
This role is about more than just event planning. You will manage program development, marketing and logistics for ITA events, roundtables and conferences.
Your focus will be on making sure all details of these events and programs are completed in an efficient and effective manner – dotting i’s and crossing t's.
You will serve as lead project manager (head honcho) on the initiatives to which you are assigned, working closely with the rest of the team (your minions) to successfully execute all aspects of the program.
Speaking of projects, you will support ITA councils by developing short and long-term plans for meeting the strategic objectives of the Council, assigning jobs (delegating like crazy) and monitoring progress (making sh*t happen!).·
This is not a nine to five job, always. Because of our heavy program offerings there may be days that require getting in early or leaving late. You also must be willing to roll up your sleeves and never think you are above any task. Everyone pitches in where and when needed, no matter the ask.
Success in this job will be measured by efficiency, attention to detail, accuracy, willingness to learn and contribution of ideas. So, basically, being awesome.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Strong project management skills will be necessary for success. Being able to manage multiple projects simultaneously will also be required.
Must be comfortable in fluid and changing environment. No two days are alike.
Exceptional communications (both written and verbal) and relationship management skills; must be capable of working effectively within committees/taskforces.
Must be able to thrive in a highly autonomous position.
Must be able to meet deadlines while handling multiple projects.
Ability to keep track of many small details without losing track of the big picture.
Self-directed and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Organize facilities and manage all event’s details such as decor, catering, entertainment, transportation, location, invitee list, special guests, equipment, promotional material, etc.
Coordinate with marketing manager to promote and publicize event, in addition to help manage social media channels.
Conduct pre- and post – event evaluations and report on outcome
2-5 years of event planning, program management or similar experience
