Hadley Institute for the Blind and Visually impaired is looking for a dedicated and innovative Development Associate to support the fundraising and communications functions of the world’s largest provider of distance education for people who are blind and visually impaired. Responsibilities cover a wide range of activities related to development, including accurately managing the database; ensuring that all gifts are properly recorded and communicated to internal and external stakeholders; conducting prospect research; facilitating various mailings and coordinating events.
Process gifts, including timely data entry of checks and credit card donations and preparation of acknowledgement letters
Reconcile gifts with business office
Create and update donor records in Raiser’s Edge database, run queries, lists and reports
Coordinate and update prospect management system
Conduct prospect research on current and potential donors as needed
Assist with the planning and implementation of stewardship activities and events
Conduct donor relations functions including writing birthday and anniversary notes
Write thank you notes, follow-up letters, donor profiles and other communications as requested
Update donor wall and annual honor roll
Support donor cultivation and solicitation efforts, including meeting and donor visit preparation and follow-up
Coordinate Centennial archive project
Prepare membership directory in concert with VP of Woman’s Board
Prepare mailings and offer other administrative support
Manage Benefit event database, help train WB members in use of database
Proof and edit Benefit materials
Prepare Benefit thank you letters and conduct other follow up as needed
Assist with WB Benefit video production as requested by video dept.
Provide support to Chief Development Officer
Provide back-up support to Board of Trustees liaison, as needed
Miscellaneous administrative tasks such as meeting preparation, processing purchase orders, ordering supplies
Take minutes at meetings as requested
Other administrative tasks as requested
Minimum two years’ experience with non-profits
Computer and data entry skills including experience with Raiser’s Edge and Microsoft Office including Excel
Strong research/information gathering skills
Strong writing and editing skills
Highly attentive to detail and excellent project management skills
Donor focus orientation and strong interpersonal skills
