Under the direction and guidance of the Board of Directors, candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, directing, managing and fundraising for a start-up nonprofit mitigating the risk of childhood lead poisoning caused by lead contaminated soil prevalent in city and suburban yards, gardens, parks and playgrounds. Responsibilities include fundraising, event planning, volunteer recruitment, placement, training and recognition, relationship building and stewardship with donors, sponsors and community partners. Key objectives will be to leverage LARC’s programs and relationships to secure grants and donations from government agencies, corporations, foundations, organizations and individuals, and to establish a development program infrastructure that includes a donor tracking database, donor communications, and evaluation and reporting systems.
This position will include some or all of the following:
Develop, prioritize and implement strategies for fundraising, community participation, publicity and professional partnerships. Identify grant opportunities and execute grant applications. Track and meet grant submission requirements and reporting deadlines.
Create and distribute promotional materials for print, web and social media platforms. Execute publicity projects that both promote and educate regarding LARC’s mission and successes.
Meet and present to community members and organizations to promote LARC’s mission and to gain financial and in kind support. Identify, cultivate and solicit major and planned gifts and relationships with foundations, corporations, individuals and community organizations.
Manage donor acknowledgment, including thank you notes and phone calls and act as liaison to donors.
Oversee daily administration including budgeting, regulatory mandates, financial reporting. Identify required metrics for each fundraising activity and ensure their execution.
With assistance from technical staff, coordinate and manage LARC’s abatement projects. Manage and coordinate volunteer and professional relationships in support of LARC’s abatement projects.
Position may also select, build and supervise organization’s staff, build and maintain donor and publicity databases, devise, organize and execute fundraising events, manage social media and website updates and communicate effectively with Board of Directors including a monthly newsletter.

Bachelor’s Degree in communications, business or scientific field.
Work experience with nonprofit organization preferably in development and overseeing operations of programs for nonprofit.
Work experience with foundations and government agencies funding sources and in public speaking/public relations.
Experience using database software and intermediate or higher level proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) and experience working with electronic donor tracking systems/databases.
