Provide for the financial sustainability of the Agency by the successful execution of a comprehensive development plan. Cultivate and solicit major gifts, implement a Planned Giving program, implement annual campaign, and solicit and respond to grant proposals. Maintain functional donor database.
Responsibilities and Duties
Develop a Strategic Development Plan, establish an annual budget and track return on investment.
Develop an annual Development Plan that aligns with the Strategic Plan.
Implement and report on the annual plan to the Development committee.
Maintain detailed accounting of return on investment for all appropriate development initiatives.
Cultivate and solicit major gifts through the implementation of the annual Development Plan.
Implement strategies for donor retention and engage lapsed donors.
Coordinate all annual campaigns. Solicit prospective and existing donors to participate in related events.
Initiate funding relationships with corporations, foundations and civic organizations.
Implement a Planned Giving Program.
Engage no less than 15 major gift donors.
Implement a Planned Giving Program.
Manage the research, drafting, submission of grant proposals.
Coordinate the research, drafting and submission of grant proposals.
Manage the grant requirements on accepted grants.
Manage the Volunteer and Business Development Function and staff.
Provide oversight to marketing events, collateral and press.
Direct website and social media strategies.
Assure planned giving and fundraising content are included in materials.
Support the Volunteer Manager and Business Development Manager in the execution of their responsibilities.
Establish and maintain a functional donor database.
Assure all gifts are acknowledged in a timely and appropriate manner.
Utilize database for all contact entries and to manage outreach.
Manage assigned staff and department. Responsibilities include all aspects of management from selection to termination.
Complete any other activity required to support and promote the mission of Meals on Wheels.
Qualifications and Skills
Education and Experience
Minimum BS Degree, Master Degree in planning, finance, or management is preferred.
Minimum of five years of experience including knowledge of Annual Giving, Capital Campaign, Foundation/Corporate solicitations, Planned Giving, Communications and Special Events.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
Knowledge of development strategies and techniques.
Knowledge of marketing strategies and techniques.
Knowledge of long-range planning process.
A persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
Able to communicate the written and spoken word with tact, diplomacy, and authority, as needed.
Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.
Able to work under pressure of many priorities and deadlines.
Able to effectively interact with people, communicate abstract ideas, negotiate contracts and solve problems creatively.
Math skills sufficient to understand profit and loss statements and work with budgets.
Able to manage the development schedule and corresponding staff schedule to accomplish required tasks in an efficient manner.
Able to provide direction and support to assigned managers and support an administrative team.
Able to work independently and lead a team.
Able to complete required paperwork, including grant writing, and technical report writing for funding agencies.
Ability to navigate the Internet and database management tools, proficient Microsoft Word, Access and Excel, and correspond professionally via email. Knowledge of Giftworks preferred.
Hold a valid Indiana Driver’s License free from moving violations.
