Ravinia, North America's oldest music festival, stands today as its most musically diverse, presenting over 140 different events throughout the summer. The Development Intern, Major Gifts provides support to the Development Department at Ravinia as an important member of the major gifts team. This position assists with administrative duties including acknowledgment letters, donor research, and appeals. Additionally, during Ravinia’s busy summer season, this person plays an important role in implementing sponsor events and stewardship activities. The internship offers an opportunity to gain valuable experience in major gift and special projects fundraising, as well as event planning for a highly respected non-profit arts organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide administrative support for the Major Gifts team through the maintenance of major gift databases, phone support and handling of major donors’ ticketing, parking, dining or other requests.
Assist with donor research and tracking, particularly around two major campaigns launching in 2018.
Assist with the planning and execution of at least six Major Gifts special events and approximately 30 individual concert sponsor events throughout the summer. Provide support for the Major Gifts team at each event. Assist with execution of the Ravinia Associates’ Music Matters benefit on Saturday, May 12, 2018 and the Women’s Board Gala benefit on Sunday, July 15, 2018.
Track event RSVPs, assist in invitation creation and mailing, assemble materials and generate event correspondence.
Assist with gift acknowledgement process. Provide support for donor benefits distribution.
Act as an onsite donor resource at the Freehling Room (Ravinia’s private donor dining facility), and other Ravinia restaurants during concert evenings throughout the summer.
Assist in sponsor recognition tracking, ensuring accuracy of sponsor listings in the Ravinia program magazine and on park signage. Maintain photographic files of accurate sponsorship listings.
Special projects and other duties as assigned, including providing administrative support for Development department, volunteer groups and Donor Concierge Service as needed.
Assists in concert duty coverage.
Provide front desk/reception support when necessary.

Experience working in a database, such as Raiser’s Edge, Microsoft Access or otherwise is a plus
Education and Experience:
Some college or higher preferred
Experience in events, administrative or customer service position preferred
Restaurant Experience a plus
This is a full-time, valued position that contributes heavily to the success of the Major Gifts team. Applicant must be prepared to dedicate their summer to working at Ravinia and, in turn, will receive un-paralleled work experience at a world-renowned arts institution.
Required to work many evenings and weekends in late spring and summer months as assigned by the Associate Director of Development, Major Gifts. As times is requested to work overtime.
Ideally able to work from January to Mid-September, 2018.
