Be part of an innovative organization creating fun and memorable experiences for the Lakeview community! The Lakeview Chamber of Commerce seeks an experienced full-time Events & Marketing Manager. This position reports to the Executive Director and leads efforts to attract customers to the neighborhood and build a stronger sense of community, by hosting community events in partnership with local businesses and by supporting neighborhood marketing initiatives. Because some of the events this position manages will require evening and weekend hours, the Chamber offers a flexible work schedule. Annual salary range is $45,000 - $55,000, commensurate with experience.

Community Events (85% of Time)
Plan, manage and execute the Chamber’s existing in-house community events, including volunteer recruitment and coordination, marketing, permitting, outreach, and all other aspects of events:
Low-Line Market (Every Thur. evening June - October)
Lakeview Live: Concerts on the Curb (Ever Wed. evening July - August)
Trick or Treat on Southport (One-day festival in October)
Lincoln Avenue Beer Stroll (One-day event in November)
Assist with Taco Fest, with support from third-party event management company
Work with Executive Director to create and improve event plans to meet fundraising needs and visibility goals, including potential development of new events
Manage part-time seasonal event support staff and interns
Support other events as appropriate
Event management duties, including:
Administer event work plans and budgets and work within financial constraints
Maintain relationships and coordinate with event vendors, partners and sponsors
Manage marketing strategies for events, including drafting website, social media, and e-newsletter content
Manage contracted technical professionals for events: event management company, publicist, graphic designer, etc.
Track event impact and analytics
Raise sponsorship funding for events
Recruit and develop event volunteers and interns
Solicit the participation of small businesses in events and assist in the planning of their involvement.
Marketing & Communications (15% of Time): Manage bi-weekly Happening In Lakeview e-newsletter, including sourcing content and drafting articles; and manage the Chamber’s social media and web presence to support businesses and the Chamber.
Share in office administrative duties and participate in regular staff meetings.
Strong commitment to the purpose and services of the Chamber
Bachelor’s degree required
2+ years experience in event planning required
Experience with farmers markets and Chicago special events permitting preferred
Knowledge of the Lakeview community and the organization’s current activities preferred
Extraordinary organization skills with strong attention to detail
Proven project management skills and able to meet deadlines
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Resourceful and creative in finding solutions to meet goals
Self-directed and takes initiative
Able to work well with a team
Must be able to move and set up event equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
