The staff psychologist provides direct clinical services, The staff psychologist provides direct clinical services, supervises trainees, plans and delivers outreach, and consults with staff and faculty. S/he participates in overall mission of promoting healthy psychological development for IIT students. This position also will have a special emphasis on coordinating our outreach program, with mentoring and support from the Clinical Coordinator. The primary focus of this position is the provision of direct clinical services including intake assessments, crisis/triage assessments, referrals, and individual and group sessions. Administrative roles and special projects may also be required depending on the needs Student Health and Wellness Center. This position may involvel weekend and evening duties including carrying an on-call pager that is rotated among staff.
This position involves occasional weekend and evening hours for outreach and clinical coverage. This position will also carry an on call pager that is rotated among staff. A pager is rotated among staff for 24 hour crisis consultation services to staff and faculty who may be concerned about a student. You may be asked to come to campus outside of business hours to respond to a crisis/consultation. Extended hours or weekend duties are required and will be divided among counseling staff.
Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA approved graduate program. At least one year of experience working in a college counseling center. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience and interest in providing intake assessments, crisis assessments and/or meetings with students, crisis consultation to staff, and individual and group therapy. Experience with college counseling or equivalent setting preferred.
Basic word and excel skills. Experience with or the ability to learn scheduling software such Point and Click. An understanding of Illinois mental health law, especially as it pertains to confidentiality and involuntary hospitalization.
Illinois license to practice clinical psychology. Ph.D. or Psy. D. in clinical or counseling psychology is required. Candidates must have completed one year of post-doctoral hours prior to beginning this position.
