This is a full-time position, working Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. or 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Some weekend availability may be required.
Manages the full grants portfolio of La Casa Norte; establishing annual development objectives in support of the agency’s strategic plan and development goals.
Maintains development calendar of proposals, reports and other activities, including updating proposal and report deadlines and guidelines, updating appeals deadlines, and scheduling meetings and activities.
Identify, qualify, and prioritize prospective foundation, corporate and governmental funding sources.
Develops and submits grant proposals on deadline that include: project description, budgetary guidelines and evaluation measurements.
Ensures compliance in format and content for all funding documentation, communications and budget expenditures.
Develops and maintains relationships with representatives from granting agencies and foundations to familiarize them with La Casa Norte's mission, programs, and services.
Prepares and submits reports as required under the terms of grant agreements and other reports.
In partnership with program leadership, assist with existing and new program development as needed to determine outcomes and benchmarks.
Manage Raiser’s Edge database, systems, and recordkeeping, procedures to identify and tack current and potential donors and to record, report, acknowledge all gifts.
Works with management team on the evaluation and monitoring of grant-funded programs to ensure compliance with grant requirements.
Communicates with and prepares funding reports for the leadership team and board members about overall progress against goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assists with donor cultivation and stewardship efforts, as needed.
Provide basic supervision of Grant Intern(s)
Assists with other department initiatives, including special events which may take place in the evenings and/or weekends.
Remains current on national, state and local housing, homeless and workforce trends and youth and Latino culture.
Monitors revenue budget and reports on financial variances for the designated program areas.
Assists in the development of promotional materials including brochures, annual reports, articles, media presentations and other materials that enhance La Casa Norte's brand and image
Performs other duties as assigned.
In addition to the responsibilities listed above, all La Casa Norte employees are responsible for contributing to the overall success of La Casa Norte by:
Attending weekly staff meetings, monthly staff meeting and other staff trainings as assigned
Participating in La Casa Norte’s fundraising events
Working in a team approach to develop new programs and/or protocols
Perform other duties as required
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
3-5 years of experience in grant writing required
Knowledge of best practices in grant and funding processes.
Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies
Ability to operate with purpose, urgency, and accuracy in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
Experience in development and grant writing, governmental funding and relationships preferred.
Superior speaking, oral and written communication skills
Ability to meet external and internal deadlines required.
Keen attention to detail, troubleshooting and analysis required.
Organized, thorough, and flexible
Capacity to see the "big picture" and manage details simultaneously
Ability to take direction well, multi-task and prioritize projects
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with project teams.
Excellent problem solver with ability to “think outside the box”
Ability to communicate with diverse groups of people including clients, staff, board members, community partners, and funders
Experience or working knowledge of Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge database preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
