The Director of Development and Communication will be responsible for developing and implementing the development strategy for RSSI. WHile overseeing development key responsibilities will be PR, increasing corporate donations and improving the agencies marketing strategy. THis position Reports to the Executive Director and will be responsible for leveraging key relationships and contacts within and outside of the agency to ensure fundraising goals are met. This includes overseeing fundraising and grant proposals while engaging sponsors, donors and volunteers in ongoing service activities and supervising the duties assigned to the Assistant Director of Development.
Assess the short and long-range funding needs of RSSI in collaboration with the Executive Director and Board of Directors in order to create and implement an annual development plan and fund-raising strategy.
Cultivate and nurture relationships with current and potential corporate & foundation sponsors, and individual donors.
Oversee grant proposals and reports to corporate, foundation and government funders. Assist with grant proposals as needed.
Develop and grow the individual donor base; manage annual giving campaign; cultivate major gifts. Adapt writing style, content, and tone with regard to donor interests, values and relationships.
Provide narrative and statistical reports to the Executive Director, the Board of Directors and the Advancement Committee to on fundraising activities and progress toward meeting goals.
Oversee planning and implementation of all fundraising events.
Oversee the recruitment, training, motivation, and evaluation of Development volunteers.
Implement major gifts and other special fundraising campaigns concurrent with raising the funds required to meet annual operating needs.
Marketing and Public Relations:
Develop, execute, and evaluate RSSI’s strategic communications plan.
Oversee the development and production of Renaissance Social Services brochures, media materials, annual report and develop public information materials such as press releases, public service announcements, radio and TV presentations, poster board displays, videotape or slide presentations, and photography.
Assign, generate, edit and manage content that promotes the RSSI brand and engage audiences across media channels: in print, online, in multimedia and on social media
Oversees the planning and implementation of all public relations events including participating in the planning, coordinating, recruiting, training, and evaluating of volunteers; implementing the plan; and evaluating the outcome.
Manage all media contacts: Answer media inquiries, distribute content and press releases, and pitch coverage to media organizations.
Develop content creators across the organization, including staff, clients, board members and community members.
Help the Executive Director coordinate and organize events and meetings that engage RSSI’s audiences and promotes the organization.
Provides reports on Marketing and Public Relations activities and progress as a component of reports to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.
Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of experience in development required. Knowledge of development processes and procedures as well as local, regional, and national fund-raising sources. Hands-on experience in use of computer technology programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must be an excellent writer and communicator.
Additional Salary Information: Salary based on experience. Additional bonuses and incentives based on meeting fundraising goals.
