With direction from the Director, the Associate Director and Archdiocesan Vitality Coordinator (AVC) works with the Parish Vitality Coordinators (PVC), and others, to ensure the successful execution of Renew My Church objectives and Archdiocesan, Vicariate and DPVM strategic priorities. Working in close collaboration with the DPVM Directors/teams, the AVC ensures the delivery of appropriate resources, as requested by the parish communities.
The Associate Director/ AVC helps coordinate the work of the PVCs, and others involved in pastoral work with Renew My Church, tracks progress, communicates updates to all appropriate partners, helps resolve issues and ensures the PVCs have access to adequate resources. The AVC conducts performance assessments and provides performance coaching and guidance as needed.
The AVC maintains ongoing communications with the Episcopal Vicars and deans; weekly PVC team meetings and one-on-one meetings; and conversations with Vicariate leadership to ensure accountability and the consistent delivery of quality services across the Archdiocese.
The AVC develops and sustains productive relationships and ongoing coordination and communication amongst the DPVM teams, various allied agencies, e.g., campus ministries, and with the Vicariate leadership teams, Pastors, Pastoral Center offices, and other stakeholders.
The AVC may collaborate with national organizations, and the USCCB, to ensure the execution of best practices and programs that drive pastoral vitality and effective pastoral leadership across the Archdiocese.
Duties and Responsibilities
*Serves as a coach for others on the team and is considered credible with an acknowledged expertise in their field and able to offer high value insights.
*Provides strategic and planning assistance to the Parish Vitality Coordinators.
*Provides managerial oversight and conducts performance assessments.
*Monitors and ensures the successful execution of PVC services and programs.
*Develops relationships with the Pastor Center teams, Vicariate teams, Pastors and all stakeholders and works to ensure an effective flow of information and leveraging of ideas and resources.
*Coordinates with the Renew My Church team to ensure successful execution of objectives related to Renew My Church.
*Maintains a focus on delivery and motivates others to reach goals,
*Ensures compliance with Archdiocesan policies, regulations and budget guidelines.
*Increases skills and knowledge through continuing education, attending conferences and reading appropriate literature.
*May be given other assignments and projects consistent with the responsibility level of this position.
Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Theology, Divinity, Pastoral Studies or equivalent
3+ years of experience in an active parish ministry or in management of a non-profit organizaiton. Prefer leadership experience within the Archdiocese of Chicago
Strong managerial skills with a proven track record developing others.
Fully committed to the Catholic Church’s teaching on the Gospel of Life.
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people from varied social, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
Strong project management skills.
Culturally and politically astute; understands implicit and explicit decision making processes.
Strong read of people and situations; able to ascertain needs and match resources
Comfortable acting as a catalyst and change agent for defining future strategies and goals.
Focuses on delivery and motivating others to reach ambitious goals.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel and Power Point.
Working knowledge of communications strategies and social media techniques
Conversational Spanish language skills preferred
Must be an excellent communicator; detail-oriented and self-motivated.
Must have excellent relationship building and influence skills.
Must demonstrate understanding, respect and support for Catholic Church teaching, mission and values,
Availability for overtime, evening or weekend work.
Must have ability to travel to all Vicariate parishes and locations within the Archdiocese
