Erie Neighborhood House, a progressive social service agency serving the Chicago metropolitan area and dedicated to promoting a just and inclusive society, is seeking a full time Housing Outreach Intern to provide direct support and assistance to Buen HOGAR: Housing Outreach and Education Program in Erie’s Little Village location. The basic functions of this position are to provide support with outreach in targeted community areas and promote CHA affordable housing options and housing resources and services in the Latino community.
Assist in developing strategies to spread awareness of CHA programs and services.
Assist in the coordination of workshops that educate the community about CHA programs and services.
Assist in distribution of flyers, posters, brochures, etc. to promote awareness about CHA programs and housing resources.
Identify, assist, and/or participate in community events to link community members to CHA resources.
Make copies, scan documents, and ensure that office needs are being met.
Offer assistance with the translation of flyers, pamphlets, brochures, etc. and other documents to Spanish or Cantonese.
Gather basic information from walk-in and telephone participant inquiries; book appointments for Bilingual Program Assistant and Outreach Coordinator.
Enter and maintain outreach information in database systems.
Assist community residents with obtaining necessary information and documents to qualify for CHA housing programs.
Assist all Buen Hogar staff during trainings and meetings when possible.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements
Some college minimum required, at least 6 college credit hours.
Computer skills a plus (Windows, MS Office, etc.).
Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish language required.
Effective communications skills.
Demonstrated commitment to social justice and sensitivity to challenges of immigrant communities and CHA residents
Ability to work Saturdays and evening hours and travel to off-site locations.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to pay close attention to detail
High degree of professionalism
Additional Salary Information: Salary Range: $13/hour, 40 hours per week
