The Professional Development Advisor works within the Child Care Resource & Referral program administering professional development and quality grant opportunities, supporting providers in meeting ExceleRate IL professional development standards, providing ongoing trainings and consultation on IL Gateways and CDA Credentials, developing resources, and improving the professional development opportunities for child care providers in Southern Illinois. Partnering with Higher Education and various organizations, the Professional Development Advisor participates in seminars and consultations, and serves on local/state committees related to program needs.
The Professional Development Advisor responsibilities include:
Administer professional development and quality grant opportunities.
Support providers in meeting ExceleRate IL professional development standards.
Provide technical assistance and consultation on IL Gateways and CDA Credentials
Provide training, consultation, technical assistance and outreach to child care providers.
Develop new resources and partnerships within communities.
Participate in seminars and consultations, and lead/facilitate provider or community meetings and workgroups.
Develop content for program newsletter, website, and social media that promotes public awareness of professional development opportunities and quality initiatives.
Collaborate with local colleges and universities to support career pathways, articulation agreements, and non-traditional coursework options.
Track data toward outcomes
Enhance development opportunities available to the child care community.
Associate’s degree in an early childhood or social services related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Familiarity with standards of quality in early childhood care and education required.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate.
Proficiency with Microsoft office products and keyboarding experience required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Valid Driver’s license, auto insurance and reliable transportation is required.
