The American Medical Association (AMA) seeks an individual with a proven track record in print and online ad sales to manage recruitment advertising accounts in the Western US and Canada. In your role as a commissioned Senior Sales Representative in the Classified Advertising department, you will be responsible for growing revenue for JAMA,its online careers Web site, and other leading periodicals. As the nation’s largest professional Association of physicians, the AMA helps doctors help patients. You’ll further this mission by bringing employers and job seekers together, connecting skills, interests, and credentials of physicians with the healthcare delivery needs of a diverse range of communities.
You will cultivate leads, identify top prospects, secure new business, and provide outstanding customer service. Additionally, you will stay abreast of the competition, make regular field calls to clients and prospects, and create and deliver advertising sales presentations and marketing proposals. Finally, you will work collaboratively with clients to identify opportunities for integration of AMA’s cross platform marketing solutions into their communications programs.
To qualify for this important position:
A Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or advertising is required.
A minimum of five years’ experience in field sales and inbound/outbound phone sales is required along with a demonstrated record of success in print and online advertising sales, with a particular emphasis on presentation/persuasion skills, especially the ability to initiate, negotiate, and close sales.
You must be passionate about delivering outstanding customer service and have excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in customer relations, sales/market analysis, forecasting and results reporting, with a high attention to detail.
A comprehensive knowledge of the specific tools, procedures and resources necessary for successful management of a large and diverse customer base is required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM software and ad tracking systems is critical.
You must have a proven work ethic, tolerance for stress, be self-directed/motivated, and possess an ability to work not only individually, but also harmoniously in a team setting.
Excellent multi-task planning and organizing skills, and a proven ability to troubleshoot and problem solve effectively are required.
And, you must be able to travel 20% of the time, plus have an ability and willingness to work outside normal business hours when traveling.
