Manage the daily operations of the Auxiliary Board and facilitate the Board’s efforts to reach its membership and fundraising goals.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Manage the daily operations of the Auxiliary Board of Lincoln Park Zoo.
Serve as liaison between Auxiliary Board and all zoo departments.
Engage in the strategic planning of the Auxiliary Board by working closely with the Board President, the Board’s Executive committee and the zoo’s Director of Board Activities and Events.
Working with board leadership, identify ways to further cultivate Board members through their membership efforts in order to maximize their effectiveness as ambassadors of the zoo.
With the zoo’s Director of Board Activities and Events, Development Events Coordinator and board leadership, plan and execute all Auxiliary Board fundraising events.
Manage and implement all Auxiliary Board communications and meetings. Attend all Board committee meetings.
Support all sponsorship efforts for the Auxiliary Board fundraising events included but not limited to securing underwriting from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
Develop new funding sources and cultivate event donors to underwrite Auxiliary Board activities.
Prepare and monitor the Auxiliary Board operating and event budgets.
With appropriate staff, coordinate and implement the Auxiliary Board annual giving effort.
Respond to volunteer requests for information.
In conjunction with the rest of the Donor Relations team, supervise the Donor Relations Assistant
Perform various tasks and other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Exceptional organizational skills essential.
Experience with Microsoft Office and expertise with word processing, spread sheet and database software. Experience with Raiser’s Edge a plus.
Ability to interact courteously and respectfully with supervisors, fellow employees, volunteers, zoo visitors and general public.
Ability to initiate and maintain relationships with key internal and external constituencies.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Prefer three to four years related experience, particularly in a fundraising and event planning environment. Board or volunteer management a plus.
Ability to remain on feet for long periods of time
Ability to operate and safely drive electric carts
Ability to work in all weather conditions
Ability to lift and move boxes and parcels of up to 45 lbs
Available to work evenings and weekends as needed
