The Development Manager is responsible for supporting organizational short and long-term fundraising goals as the manager of the organization donor database, annual fund giving, including appeals and monthly donors. In coordination with the Director s/he will cultivate a portfolio of mid-level donors for their retention and their increased giving.
Manage logistics of all annual direct mail annual appeals; including creating appeal budgets and mailing lists, and working with list brokers, printers, graphic artist and mail houses.
Develop customized gift queries and financial reports that analyze and track donations by code and gift level; and generate data that informs strategic donor cultivation and stewardship.
Conduct prospect research for grants and individuals.
Cultivate donor relationships with individuals who contribute up to $1,000 annually; working with the Director to steward those with the capacity to contribute more.
Manage all online donation pages and work to ensure they are updated according to fundraising strategies.
Reconcile department revenue and expenses monthly with our bookkeeper; contribute to end of year audit process with accurate record-keeping and filing of all related documents.
Assist with grant writing, reporting, and schedule management as needed.
Assist as needed with entry of gift and constituent information into database; update and maintenance of donor records and activity including individuals, corporations, family foundations, and grants’; acknowledgment of gifts received; and the processing, deposit and reporting of cash, checks and credit card gifts.
Manage integrity and security of confidential donor database and its records according to organization policies and procedures; recommend data base protocols.
Administrative and other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
3+ years working in a non-profit workplace
3+ years of database experience, preferably with Salesforce and/or eTapestry, is essential
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Able to proactively manage workflow in response to team goals
Able to work occasional evenings and weekends
Proven ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Strong attention to detail
An understanding of, and belief in, the importance of food security for everyone.
