The University of Chicago Medicine Kovler Diabetes Center seeks a highly motivated individual to join the team as a Special Event Assistant to work on our upcoming gala fundraiser.
This is a temporary, 20 hour per week position beginning in May (actual start date flexible- can begin in June if needed) June and ending mid-December. There is the potential for additional hours if desired and as needed by event team. Advancement is possible pending excellent performance. Commitment from mid-June through mid-December, full availability on September 22nd and 23rd is ALL mandatory.
This position is ideal for a recent college graduate, graduate student, or an experienced freelancer looking for a temporary yet fulfilling part-time job.
If the temporary arrangement is successful, there is an opportunity to explore more permanent, benefits-eligible employment at Kovler and/or University of Chicago.
This position is not ideal for someone with uncertain summer plans or a student who goes back to school prior to September 23rd, 2017.

The Special Event Assistant will: · Maintain accurate records of event registrants and donations · Assist in the process of cataloging auction items · Assist in the procurement of auction items · Prepare print materials as needed · Provide daily updates on progress to event chairs · Send follow up mailings to attendees, donors, and supporters · Other tasks as required
The successful candidate should: · Possess event planning experience · Possess high attention to detail · Demonstrate a high level of customer service · Be a team player who exhibits a can-do, positive attitude · Have experience with Microsoft Office Mail Merge functionality · Have a flexible schedule during the month of September 2017 · Be available for the full duration of the employment period and on September 22-23, 2017
