The Community Health Outreach Specialist is a grant funded position is responsible for the day-to-day study activities at the Ventanilla de Salud in the Consulate General of Mexico in Chicago.
This position will coordinate the implementation of HPV health education sessions at the Mexican Consulate with the goal to conduct a randomized controlled trial for the effectiveness of a community-based HPV vaccination program that targets Mexican-American parents of HPV vaccine eligible children and to develop a multi-level statistical predictive model on vaccination series completion.
Essential duties and responsibilities will include:
Coordinate the day-to-day study activities at the Ventanilla de Salud in the Consulate General of Mexico in Chicago.
Coordinate the recruitment, consent and baseline data collection,
Administer the educational component of the intervention
Maintained quality assurance to ensure all surveys are completed
Manage survey data entry into study database and Outcome evaluation.
Responsible to recruited participants and followed up to 4 times in a six month period
Maintains up dated a community resources and agencies data base to referred participants.
Support a referral system that facilitates the enrollment of community residents into clinical services at Alivio. Act as liaison between participants and Alivio Services
Prepare and submit activities reports, demographic data reports and other required reports as necessary.
Conduct outreach activities throughout the community on topics related to health.
Assists with activities related to the Ventanilla de Salud at the Mobil Unit.
Support the coordination and planning of health fairs and special community events for VDS Program.
Provides presentations on topics related to health as necessary
Participates in internal and community meetings as assigned.
Communicate regularly with Alivio Medical Center Health Education Programs Manager on progress and barriers to effective services.
Responsible for performing other duties as assigned by the Alivio Medical Center Health Education Programs Manager.
Participate at Alivio Medical Center and Ventanilla de Salud Principal Events.
Other duties as assigned.
H.S. Diploma or GED, or combination of education and previous work experience.
One year minimum of community involvement work. Experience working in the Latino community.
Community Health Worker training.
Proficient in Spanish and English.
Excellent communication skills, especially written and public speaking. Excellent team member. Able to manage time and set priorities. Strong communication & organizational skill.
Computer knowledge necessary: Microsoft Office suites and internet.
Must be highly motivated, self-initiated, and flexible; prepare to work evenings, Saturdays & Sundays.
