Represents the Illinois Restaurant Association (IRA) with pride, integrity and dedication
Recruit new members in Suburban Cook County and all of Lake, DuPage, Will, Kane and McHenry Counties
Develop and maintain active pool of potential members
Achieve monthly sales goals
Maintain daily record of sales activity (in database)
Perform required daily number of cold calls and follow-up calls
Service existing members of the IRA (by directing to appropriate resource or personnel)
Cooperate with Director of Membership in introducing new members to existing members and services and relay feedback regarding potential new benefits or services for the members
Aid membership retention by remaining in contact with members in the territory, encouraging new members to attend meetings and events and informing them of educational classes and seminars in their area and answer existing member questions
Remain knowledgeable about IRA goals, services and projects through attendance at IRA staff meetings, weekly President’s Report and monthly Seasonings®
Work in conjunction with Education Department to promote in-house and on-site classes, training materials, seminars and work with non-member students to register for classes (leads for membership)
Work with Associate Members in territory to gain their support and network for potential operator member leads
Assist Government Affairs Director in developing grassroots network in the territory and alert Government Affairs to pending legislation that impacts the industry shared by members or potential members
Attend various Association events as requested and promote events membership
Remain knowledgeable about Association benefits and services, and general industry trends and regulations
Staff Association booth in various trade shows
Work with representatives from each endorsed programs to provide the best possible customer service for the membership
Attend and lead group luncheons and networking functions on a regular basis

The IRA owns and produces Chicago Gourmet – the annual food and wine festival held in Millennium Park that unites hundreds of restaurants, chefs and beverage experts for a weekend filled with food and drink tastings, entertainment, cooking demonstrations, book signings, interactive seminars and more. The Association is a proud host of the James Beard Foundation Awards, which will be held in Chicago through 2021 and celebrates excellence in cuisine, culinary writing, and culinary education throughout the country.
